Petrified Forest National Park

This sounded pretty neat so we wanted to stop and check it out on our way to the Grand Canyon. Its was just inside Arizona but was a long drive from Valley of Fires. We arrived late in the afternoon and only had about an hour and a half before they closed the park. We parked the RV outside the gates and Frank took us on the "rocket tour" of the 28 mile park drive. Its a really neat place but there is not much to see, especially if you are in a hurry :). The forest is a bunch of petrified logs laying around in the desert. They are really cool looking when you get up close. The bark and core of the trees has changed to stone. Check out the website at http://www.nps.gov/pefo/index.htm.
